Fantastic summary of the issues surrounding land ownership and farming in the UK. As a farm worker myself, I definitely find the access to affordable land and housing and the extremely high start up costs being the biggest barrier. Here is to more County Farms!
Interesting article, but this is not my experience. I have found the LWA to be largely a middle class, pro livestock, campaigning organisation. The LWA members that i have met have been either land owners, or volunteers. Neither of which i would consider to be land *workers*, in the sense that neither are making their livelihood through their work. Obviously my experiences are probably not representative of the whole, and respect to all who produce food, but this is why, despite being a landworker, i do not feel represented by, or feel like joining, the LWA.
