Latinx is surely the worst word to be invented for honest and noble reasons for the last several years. Imagine if an article about the developer-induced demise of Chinatown wanted to say ‘the traders are predominantly Chinamen[/Chinawomen]’ and someone else insisted The Solution to this clunkiness was ‘Chinaunits’, when the whole time there exists perfectly serviceable words that don’t insist on pugilistically lassoing in gendered-baggage - neutral or otherwise - e.g. ‘the traders are predominantly Chinese’.

It’s even called ‘The Latin Village’, so why ‘The Latinx community’?

This is really one of the few issues that makes me feel very alienated from my own community. I agree with everything else in this article.
